Obedience use the major characteristic of the person who is mightily and spirit. Generally speaking obedience characterized the faith of Abraham from his first encounter with God until his death.
God always connects obedience with blessing, even when He does not stretch out the full details of what that blessing may be. The Lord “appeared” to Abram only after Abram obeyed His voice by morning Canon. As Abrams faith grew so did the details of God’s promise to him. Men and women of faith must endure hardship just like anyone else. But God wants to use adversity to deeper and strengthen our relationship with Him.
Abram had to learn that trusting God means looking beyond what we can see to what God sees. GOD does not need our half-truths and lies in order to protect and bless us. We have no record that Abrams “Called on the name of the Lord” while in Egypt where he got into trouble. How much better off we would be if we would learn that prayer is life’s greatest time saver!
Abrams counted a good relationship with his nephew as more important then his own material prosperity. Apparently he didn’t worry much about his possessions, because he had seem that no one can ever out give God!
